Two Madi Chiefs Arrested In Nimule To Face Charges in Land Grabbing Scandal

UnspecifiedApril 3, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — Two Madi chiefs, John Amba Modi, the head chief of Kerepi Payam and his counterpart, Boma chief, Oyuru Mundala of Moli-Andru Boma, were arrested this morning by government soldiers.

Three army land cruiser full of soldiers carrying AK47, Automatic weapons(PKM) and RPG raided the Boma of Moli- Andru in the early hour of the morning and picked up the chief. On their way back, the soldiers also picked up the head chief of Kerepi Payam.

In Kerepi, while arresting the head chief, they collected all the phones of family members and neighbors and also arrested Idro Emilio, a government officer who got mad while in frontline and sent home for treatment.

They alleged that the two chiefs were hosting Maj. Gen. Martin Kenyi in recent days and they must declare his hideout.

After three hours of intensive interrogations and intimidation, the chief were transferred to Nimule barrack for further fatal interrogation. Their specific whereabouts and their condition remain uncertain.

Till now the situation remains tense as soldiers are paroling the Payams.

Reliable sources in the area, however, revealed that the two chiefs were not arrested for hosting Martin Kenyi but because of a meeting, organized by Dinka Elders, which the Madi chiefs attended in Nimule.

In the meeting, the Dinka elders presented three proposals to be signed by Madi chiefs:

  1. Allocation of land for settlement.
  2. Allowing free grazing of their cattle in Madi land.
  3. Appointment of Dupty Area Administrator for Pageri from Dinka community to represent them.

The two well-known vocal chiefs told the Dinka elders that they cannot sign the paper, suggesting that the Dinka elders should travel all the four Payams of Pageri Administrative Area to consult the host communities on their proposals.

The counter argument presented by the Madi Chiefs was not accepted by the Dinka Elders, ending the meeting without any break through.

Other reliable sources from Nimule confirmed that the Dinka elders held a follow-up meeting the following day, in which they reached the conclusion that the Madi Chief must be arrested and intimidated before another meeting is called.

Land grabbing is another form of oppressive and suppressive policy on those whose land is lost and the entire community. It stops where and when the community puts a stop to it with law of land and property rights and ownership entitlements and of clearly defined by-laws.

Dr Machar will never become President of SS. Get over your hope dude. If I were Nuer folks, we would rally behind James Hoth The patriot SS citizen who devotes his pretty life to protect SS land and her people. James Hoth can rally Dinka behind him. Nuer, U doesn’t need to force Traitor (Machar) to our threat (the Dinka).

” Dr Riek Machar, the leader of the SPLM/IO is set to step down as early as the midth of this month in a major rebel leadership reshuffle set to affect some of the senior members of the rebels camp and their diplomatic corps”.:

To have murder thousands of Nuer because Machar expressed interest for peaceful reforms and splm party nomination. When There is no Macahar to discuss many of you that are barking now will again have a problem with anyone else from the Nuers who charters the same path of expressing interest for reforms and leadership of South Sudan. The possibility of thousands more dying again are real. When and where does your ridiculous double standard stop.

My fellow south Sudanese, there is an urgent need to revitalize our ways of thinking and the relationship between all the tribes of south Sudan so as to make our society a dynamic communion of communities. Please, take a peaceful leaflets from Equatorians who looks like fools but naturally wise and embraces all southerners in their ancestral land. We normally communicate in Juba Arabic in order to accomodate everybody who does not speak Madi, moru, mundari, Abukaya, bari, Zande….etc. Violent always breeds violent. We need each other but not the attitude of malice, robbery with extreme violence. ”Power is not forever.” Today you are on power with all the resources in your possession, but remember that tomorrow will be some one else. ”If you do good, you do it for your self, but if you do bad, you do it for your self.” This proverb determine what will happen to you and your family members in the future. I urge all of us to be civilized and avoid retrogressive thinking.
Monarchy, Theocracy and patrician system of ruling are by gone systems. Don,t even dream of it.
For my fellow Equatorians, please take heart. you Started Anya Nya movement with two rifles and Pangas(Machetes) and you defeated the superior armed force in many battles until the peace accord was signed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 1972. Patriots let people continue to grab your land, ”even a dog has it’s day as we are attributed to a sleeping dog of South Sudan”. Be prayerful and always on your knees. Amen.
