September 27th 2019 (Nyamilepedia)-The SPLM-IO leadership in Northern Bhra el Ghazal, Awiel has dismissed accusations that one of its members, Wieu Paan Majakdit has been abusing and threatening local authorities in an official capacity in the state.
In response to the allegations, the Information Minister for the SPLM-IO’s Northern Bhra el Ghazal state, Deng Nyiwel Dhieu strongly denied that the allegations and remarks made by the opposition’s official were solely his personal views, which do not represent the position of the SPLM-IO leadership.
“The SPLM-IO leadership of Northern Bhra el Ghazal Federal state, Aweil would like to clarify and distance itself from the remarks made by an individual against the government of Aweil East state, that we have no intention to threaten or abuse each other. The person who made the remarks is a member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-IO; he’s called Wieu Paan Majakdit and he seems to have [a] personal problem with the authorities in Aweil east before joining SPLM-IO in 2018.”
Adding that, “His personal attack against the government of Awiel East state has nothing to do with the leadership of SPLMIO led by Dr. Riek Machar Teny.”
Deng pointed out that, since the signing of the peace agreement, there’s no point in rivalries between the SPLM-IO and South Sudan’s government because the two Parties have become peace Partners.
“On our side, as in the leadership of Northern Bhra el Ghazal Federal State Aweil and the SPLM-IO at large, we are no longer opponents or rivals with the government of Aweil East state or the government of South Sudan but we are peace partner and people of South Sudan all of us.”
