Deng Elijah, (pronounced with several variants: Dɛŋ ih-LI-jah, ee-LYE-juh or ih-LYE-juh) is an undergraduate student in the Department of Cognitive System and Computer Science at the University of British Columbia, studying Computational Intelligence and Cognition. He is passionate about artificial intelligence, CSI and computer-human interaction.
Early Life
Deng was born in South Sudan, and at a age of 13 moved to Kenya with part of his family. In Kenya, Deng resumed his studies in primary school where he attended Kibira(Kawangware) and Tumaini(Umoja) primary school in Nairobi, and several other schools in various parts of the country.
Deng was granted admission to Kamukunji Secondary in Nairobi after his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) but instead joined Masaba High School in Nyanza province, and later transferred to St Mary High School, Nairobi. Like in his primary, Deng went to 5 different secondaries schools, in five different provinces, in four years. He later completed his high school at Mavoko secondary, in Eastern province.
