17 Oct, 2014(Nyamilepedia) — The leader of the armed opposition, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, the former vice president, has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, following an invitation by the Kenyan president, Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to James Gatdet Dak, the spokesperson to Dr. Riek Machar, the SPLM-IO chairman’s delegation arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, on Friday to consult with the Kenyan president, Uhuru Kenyatta, on the IGAD led South Sudan peace process.
“Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of SPLM/SPLA, Comrade Dr. Riek Machar Teny, is currently in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi on invitation by Kenya leadership” Dak said.
“He arrived on Friday accompanied by a number of senior members of the Movement’s leadership. The purpose of the visit is to consult with the Kenyan president, HE Uhuru Kenyatta on the IGAD-mediated peace talks” Dak continued.
During his first visit in May, Machar was accorded a grand reception on a red carpet by the Kenyatta government, a decision that attracted criticism from Salva Kiir regime in Juba.
In other reports, president Salva Kiir has appointed Telar Ring Deng, the former presidential advisor , as the new South Sudan ambassador to Russia and Garang Diing Akuong as the new ambassador to the United States.
