Jan 9, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — Latest reports from multiple sources allege that South Sudan’s warring factions have resumed heavy battles in multiple locations in the oil-rich Upper Nile State.

According to Col. Andrew Nien, who was reached by Nyamilepedia correspondents in Maban county while fleeing the headquarters in Bunj, the SPLA-IO troops have attacked Maban from two different fronts.

“People are leaving Bunj, the rebels have attacked us from two fronts. One from Adar and another Mathiang…I have to go, I have to go” Col. Nien shouted over his Satellite phone while leaving Bunj town.

The fighter on the government side reaffirms that while one battalion of SPLA-IO forces attacked Maban from the direction of Mathiang, another battalion entered the county from the direction of Adar.

Nien believes that the SPLA-Juba faction had sent two reinforcements from the Headquarters to encounter the fast-approaching anti-government forces, who overran Jamam at around 8Am on Jan 8th, however, Nien feared that the two reinforcements were overran by the rebels.

“We haven’t heard back from our troops. None has returned and we failed to reach them due to poor network in the area”.  Col. Nien said.

According to the resident of Maban, a few wounded government fighters were brought to Bunj hospital in the mid-morning, however, the town was evacuated by 12 noon.

Sources from Malakal and Juba confirmed that the Nuer populations in both cities are under threat as members of Maban Community and the regime’s security forces are angered by the incoming news from the frontlines.

“Nuer people are reporting to UNMISS Compound in Malakal because Chai [people of Mabaan] are hunting Nuer in the towns.” Said a reliable source, who preferred anonymity due to fear of reprisal.

“After the fighting in Maban, they [loyal forces] are defeated; many Gelwengs and Mabaan are captured by the white armies, many are said dead” The correspondent confirmed to Nyamilepedia’s editorial team.

According to Col. Philip Aguer, the spokesman for the SPLA-Juba forces, the anti-government forces attacked their position in Jamam around 5Am, this morning, however, Aguer believes that the government troops repulsed the attacks.

Aguer believes that the attack came from the direction of Blue Nile but the government forces control the town.

“The attack came from the direction of the Sudanese border in Bout area,” he said, referring to a town in Tadamon Locality of Blue Nile State.

In other reports, heavy fighting has resumed in the strategic town of Nassir between the two warring factions. Although it is yet to be verified, the two warring factions continue to trade accusations on the violations of cease fire agreement and control of the towns.

No peace without the war. Peace is after war. This war is created by the Ugandan president for Kiir. The solution is in their hands and one else. They will have to be defeated militarily or Kiir step down and allow peace to come. No Naath will leave South Sudan and will never like to be under him anymore.

Nuer people should not allow themselves to be fooled by Riek Machar, they quite this meaningless war and come back to towns. I have never heard of a tribe that tries to wage a war of liberation, Nuer are making a costly history.

If Naath Nuer people fooled by Dr Riek Machar why Dinka people fooled by Salva Kirr who killed innocents Nuer women and children in Juba? My friend your president salva kirr and Dinka will not go anywhere untill they come under Dr Riek Machar is leadership, whether you believed it or not. Nuer people are strong enough not just to fight only with Dinka and South Sudanese 63 tribes, but we will also fight with east African Bantus and proof them wrong. We Will teach them a lesson that they will never forget. From John Chuol Guin.
