June 11, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — The armed Opposition Chairman, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, has arrived this afternoon in Johannesburg, South Africa, ahead of the Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union.
According to Dr. Machar’s Spokesman, Mr. James Gatdet Dak, the chairman is officially invited to attend the submit of African heads of states and governments in Johannesburg, South Africa.
“Yes, the chairman and commander-in-chief of SPLM/SPLA, Dr Riek Machar, has been invited to participate in the upcoming AU summit of heads of state and governments in South Africa,” Dak confirms.
Machar, who has spent nearly two months at his headquarters in Pagak following the SPLM/SPLA leadership conference in April this year, has spent the last three days in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
In Addis Ababa, the opposition leadership was briefed last evening by the Chief Negotiator, Gen. Taban Deng Gai, who attended the IGAD-Plus Consultations on South Sudan Peace talks.
According to reliable insiders, Machar will also hold parallel meetings with unspecified African heads of states in South Africa before he returns to Addis Ababa.
President Kiir Delays Due to Poor Health
According to reliable sources from South Sudan capital, Juba, President Salva Kiir may travel to the summit if his health improves.
Last week, President Salva Kiir failed to attend the 10th Summit of Heads of States of Northern Corridor, which was organized at Commonwealth Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda.
The President delegated his Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs, Gen. Kuol Manyang Juuk, to the regional Summit.
The 25th AU Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, officially runs between 7th-15th June, 2015 with the theme “Year of Women Empowerment and Development towards Africa’s Agenda 2063”.
The Summit has been spaced into two days sessions with the last session, The Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Union, for which the South Sudanese leaders are invited for, to be held on Sunday and Monday, 14th and 15th respectively.
In other reports, at least one member of South Sudan’s National Security Services (NSS) was instantly killed in the capital, Juba, last night.
According to Peter Daud, a shooting broke out last night at Hai Atlabara ‘B’ in Juba.
Although the eye witness was unable to confirm the exact number of causalities, Daud believes that at least one security personal was killed on spot.
“Yes, there was a shooting at around 8:30pm in a place call Hai Atlabara between drunk members of South Sudan Security Police. We do not why but one security was killed right there”. Daud confirms to our editorial team.
