August 03, 2016(Nyamilepedia) ——- We the Bentiu community in Kenya have condemned in the strongest term possible, the asinine behavior of Gen. Taban Deng for illegally taking over the position of commander in Chief of the SPLM/SPLA-IO, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, as the first Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan. We have gathered enough evidence and therefore reject Taban Deng Gai’s appointment.
We want to join our Unity State-Bentiu Governor and other IO country representatives from Bentiu, in their statements that condem Taban Deng Gai’s controversial appointment to fight Dr. Riek Machar Teny and IO leadership.
We, therefore, affirm the IGAD and International communities position in disapproving the appointment of Taban Deng Gai to replace Dr. Riek Machar Teny as the country’s first Vice President.
The only issue which led the Bentiu community to take the arm against the Government of South Sudan under the leadership of Salva Kiir in 2013 has not been resolved yet. We stand strongly together with our beloved sons and daughters, and together with the people of Bentiu community in the protection of Bentiu community, the IO, and the interest of South Sudan.
“Gen. Taban Deng Gai’s defection should not be a big concern to all of us. When those of Gatdet, Tanginye and Gathoth Gatkuoth defected, we remain strong” said a community member whose name is withheld for safety matter.
The Bentiu community in Kenya will still stand strongly and support the first Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny without failure.
We further preserve our full support to SPLM/ SPLA IO under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny. We still need peace or otherwise the Government will be out of powar soon.
