August 20th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan Government on Monday announced, as part of the peace deal implementation, the release of twenty-one (21) Political Prisoners in the country.
The release of the prisoners is the first of its kind since the South Sudan government and opposition groups signed a peace deal early this month.
A prior permanent ceasefire agreement signed by Kiir, the President and Machar who is now the country’s FirsVice-president designate.
South Sudan’s deputy information minister Lili Albino told journalists that the government has released twenty-one prisoners of war without mentioning their names.
“The political detainees were released as a sign of peace in the country,’’ she told journalists in the capital Juba on Monday.
