South Sudan Army Looted civilians in Mundri West villages
By Alfred Moru,
June 3, 2014(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan Army which was deployed in Mundri West County in Western Equatoria state under Major Gen: Johnson Juma Okot Commander of D6 and Brig: Korokoni to contain the situation in the county after the incident in the county last month have today gone for a visit to Bangolo Payam and had rallies with local community of Ladingwa and Garia (Medewu) respectively.
Some government representatives in the convoy are the commission of Mundri West County Mr. Hassan Bakit and other officials in the county including the SPLM County Secretary Mr. Wesley Walla and religious leaders.
The intention of their Visit was not clear but during their rallies with the locals in the area, they said, they had gone to investigate for the presence of the rebel in the area and inductee with the elders and the religious leaders to ask Mr. Wesley Welebe and his loyalist to stop fighting the government forces but instead come out.
During their visit unfortunately, the government forces which are supposed to give protection to the local populations and protect their lives and properties have turned out to be robbers and looters. The Solders had badly looted local population in Ladingwa and Garia. Among others things looted are food items such as Maize grains, Blankets, Cassava flour, G/nuts, cloths, Mattresses etc.
It’s clearly understood that the government soldiers deployed in Mundri West County were hungry and were badly starving. If no attention is paid and no provision of food is made to them in the days to come, residents in the villages in Greater Mundri will suffer continually of such lootings.
