Nuer Youth Association In Australia Has Rejected The Creation of 28 States

Australia-001

Oct 3, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — On behalf of the Nuer Youth Association in Australia and on my own behalf, I condemn in the strongest term possible the unexpected and unilateral creation of 28 states by South Sudan’s president Salva Kiir. We strongly believe that it is a clear violation of the IGAD-PLUS Compromised Peace Agreement, which signed by the two leaders Dr. Riek Machar on 17 August 2015 and Salva Kiir on 26 August 2015.

From our perspectives, President Salva Kiir is not committed to the Peace Agreement he signed on 26th August 2015 by creating 28 states. Since the conflict started in 15 December 2013, we are aware that Salva Kiir did not honour his promises.

  1. We strongly believe that the creation of 28 states will not resolve problems that face nation or stop the suffering of the people South Sudan; but instead it will deteriorated the current situation in the South Sudan.
  2. We strongly believe that the formation of 28 states will create many more problems between tribes and communities because there are no clear borders between 28 states.

Currently the people of South Sudan want the implementation of the Peace Agreement because their only hope is the IGAD-PLUS Compromised Peace Agreement. Therefore, we call on President Salva Kiir to just implement Peace Agreement immediately. We also call on the IGAD-PLUS, AU, the UN and the international community to stand with the people of South Sudan and put more pressure on President Salva Kiir to implement the Peace Agreement instead of using delaying tactics by creating 28 states by decree.

Chairperson,

Thalage Wal Goch
